Reality Check!

Let’s face it… no one is quite used to our new life changes. We have had to make many changes due to the coronavirus attack. Students were uprooted from their dorms and pushed to leave the college campus life and return home, while others must work from home. Some even had to face being unemployed. Would you have ever thought that there would be a limit on household items; such as toiletries, hand-sanitizers, and cleaning supplies? Well, it is now.

The Coronavirus hit unexpectedly. I remember one day at school receiving an email stating that classes were not to be held and it was optional to stay on campus. Literally the next day, we were assigned our move out date due to COVID-19. Yet the moving out process seemed fast. Classes have transitioned to online classes, and online classes through video chat have been a bittersweet experience. Being able to stay in bed and limit eye contact with teachers is a gift; especially when being asked a question. While the current downfall is adjusting our new learning environment, another added stressor is having to adjust to my younger sibling walk-in or start talking during the zoom call for my classes.

Some states are taking the pandemic more seriously than others by giving state curfews and allowing only a certain amount of people in a store at a time. While the government is promoting everyone to stay home and social distance at six feet, some are still taking the situation lightly, and are deciding to go out to party, take vacations, and hang in crowds. The worst part of this situation is not knowing when the virus will be uplifted, releasing us from our “Prison House.” We are constantly being given various dates about our ”release date” in fragments is causing frustration and anxiety. How much more can we take!
